Evernote and Omnifocus integration wish

I use OmniFocus to manage my lists of projects and next actions for GTD. One of the nicest things about OmniFocus is its integration with Apple Mail. If you use the "OmniFocus: Send to Inbox" service, then your new action in OmniFocus is linked with the mail message's URI. One click and you're back in the original email message, no matter which folder you moved it to.

Now, OmniFocus is not really the place to store supporting reference material for projects, so I've been using Evernote for this purpose. What would make the workflow simpler is if Evernote supported opening a note by URI, the same way that Apple Mail does. That way it would be very easy to cross-link supporting material into OmniFocus, and have it accessible with one click.

This may seem like an edge use case, but one of the principles of GTD is that you should have your supporting materials easily to hand when you need them.

Turns out there's an Evernote forum thread on this, but there's been no update from Evernote staff for over a year. http://forum.evernote.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=7057&start=0

I've contacted them directly to see if there's any more info they can offer, as it does appear they wanted to incorporate this feature.

I've looked a bit at the API for Evernote. It looks to me like all Evernote information from their servers is accessible given an application with correct authorization.

Now, that's easy to say, but likely difficult to do. The missing piece is the client application - there _doesn't_ seem to be a way to access a note via the client. But I think it would be possible to supply at least read-only access to the data from OmniFocus.

(And, of course, there's AppleScript, though given the fun with Mail/clipping I'm not sure whether that would be any better...)

Edd, I definitely agree with your thoughts here, though. I do wonder whether it might be as much in OmniGroup's interest to reach out to Evernote as much as the reverse.

Have you had any progress on this? I'd love to be able to exactly this!

Same here - been looking for a solution other than the spotlight/applescript ones I've found so far. It would be great if Evernote + Omnifocus could get together on this...

I get regular traffic to this page looking for the answer. Personally, I've moved to using Nozbe http://nozbe.com/ for my GTD. It offers Evernote integration, over iPad, iPhone and web apps.
